UCLan
The British University of Cyprus
I chose three modules, two of which were taught throughout the year. Even though I arrived a semester late, I was able to catch up with the help of the professors.
I had two final exams, but most of my work involved projects, such as developing a mobile app, creating a dashboard, managing the university’s database, and much more. I gained many skills during my Erasmus experience.
My advice is to be attentive to the events organized by the university, get involved, ask questions, and seek help when needed, as the staff is very supportive and helpful.
If you have trouble understanding the language, joining the university’s English classes will be very helpful.
And finally, enjoy the island of Cyprus, its culture, and its beautiful beaches.
In Cyprus, there are student job opportunities, and it is easy to find one.
My mobility experience in Cyprus went very well; I truly enjoyed it. I expanded my personal and professional network.
I gained new IT skills while studying in English, which helped improve my language proficiency. I also learned a bit of Greek and discovered a new culture that I loved. Cyprus has given me a lot.
As for housing, it was quite easy for me since I stayed in the student residences at UCLan.
The process was simple, and the accommodation is only two minutes away from the university by foot. It is a very secure place that I highly recommend.
Regarding transportation, there are only buses in Cyprus. A student at UCLan can get a bus card for €25 per month, allowing unlimited travel throughout the city of Larnaca.
I was fortunate to meet many Erasmus students in Cyprus thanks to two major organizations: ESN (Erasmus Student Network Nicosia) and ELN (Erasmus Life Nicosia).
These associations organized trips to explore the island, helping me meet new people from all over the world, from different cultures and languages.
They also organized game nights, beach days, and many other activities.
At the beginning of my mobility, it was a bit difficult to integrate because I didn’t know much about the country, its culture, and its language.
However, it became easier when I made new friends and expanded my social circle.
I really loved my exchange in Cyprus !
