Research
Context

An engineering school is not only the place where tomorrow’s engineers are trained, but also an important link between companies and fundamental and applied research centers. To maintain this link, the school, in collaboration with the professional community, aims to:

  • the development and exploitation of research and technology,
  • technology transfer and innovation in collaboration with the business world,
  • the professional integration of future engineers by developing relationships with companies.

All university lecturers and researchers are involved in a research activity with a good balance between theory and practice. The school’s staff have always had, and continue to have, the ambition to position their work between the fundamental and the applied research.

While this role is very motivating, it requires both scientific and industrial skills.

University lecturers and researchers publish their work in international journals and participate in national and international congresses (USA, Japan, Israel, Korea, China, Brazil, Italy, Spain, England, etc.). This commitment maintains the scientific quality of teaching.

Research: 7 Laboratories support EIL Côte d’Opale and companies

EIL Côte d’Opale is a component of the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale (art 713-9 of the Education Code). It is supported by 7 ULCO research laboratories. ULCO lecturers-researchers attached to the EIL Côte d’Opale carry out their research activities in these laboratories.
37 lecturers-researchers are attached to the laboratories below:

LISIC – Laboratory of Computer Science, Signal and Image of the Opal Coast.
LMPA – Laboratory of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
UCEIV – Environmental Chemistry and Interactions on Living Organisms Unit.
LPCA – Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of the Atmosphere.
LOG – Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences.
UDSMM – Molecular Materials Dynamics and Structures Unit.
UMRT INRAE BIOECOAGRO – Biochemistry of Aquatic Products Unit.

EIL Lab

In addition to the research activities of lecturers-researchers carried out in ULCO’s research units, EIL Côte d’Opale has a Technology Transfer Center (EIL Lab). EIL Lab connects companies, training and laboratories of the University of the Littoral Côte d’Opale to carry out R&D projects in the following fields:

  • Data science, artificial intelligence, optimization.
  • Collaborative industrial robotics.
  • Industrial computing, software engineering, automation.
  • Additive manufacturing processes, virtual and augmented reality, digital engineering, functional surfaces and materials, non-destructive testing.
  • Signal processing, imaging, machine and environmental vision.
  • Prototyping, embedded systems.
  • Fluid mechanics and hydraulics.
  • Big data and high-performance computing.
  • Energy, renewable energy and smart grid.
  • Food safety.
  • Useful and pathogenic marine flora.
  • Spoilage, freshness of aquatic products.
